PROGRAM

VERA MORAIS EUPNEA
EUPNEA is an ensemble of voices and flutes led by singer and composer Vera Morais; a hybrid project gathering vocalists and flutists from both jazz and contemporary music backgrounds.
In a celebration of the similarities between the two instruments – timbre, tessitura, the intricacies of their sound production – Morais created a new kind of unpretentious, human, and immersive chamber music; one that sees the ensemble as an instrument in itself: a human organ, in which the pipes (flute pipes and vocal tracts alike) breathe sonic synergy. Having released their single mirror error in 2023, EUPNEA’s debut album of the same name will be released in February 2026 at Carimbo Porta-Jazz.

GIUSEPPE DORONZO / GENEVIEVE MURPHY

Baritone saxophonist Giuseppe Doronzo is an improviser through and through. Therefore it makes a lot of sense that he enters into a duet with another pure improviser, Genevieve Murphy, as they did last year at the Spring Duets evening at BIMHUIS. Doronzo is very active in the music scene, for example with the AVA Trio or as a soloist, with the successful solo album Goya. Genevieve Murphy combines performance and visual art with contemporary classical music. A commonality is playing the bagpipes, with Doronzo on Iranian bagpipes alongside baritone sax and Murphy on Scottish bagpipes alongside her voice and electronics. Henning Bolte will accompany the music with live drawing.

TERESA RIEMANN

Teresa Riemann (* 1988) lives and works as musician (compositions / improvisations: drums, piano, voice), performance-artist and writer since 2012 in Berlin. A curious mind that seeks the holes in the ground, windows to another world, often discredited as ‘échappatoires’ (engl. = escapism). She has developed her very unique style of convulsive percussion, that she accompanies with the eclectic use of her fragmented voice, spontaneously reciting bribes of the living memory of humankind

Since 2013 she is active in different musical collaborations to be situated inside the broad field of new music that yet come with a raw energy and find themselves far from a hygienical tidiness of pure intellectualism.

ANDY MOOR

DJ Andy Ex is Andy Moor, guitar player from the Dutch band The Ex.
He has DJ’d on many occasions after playing a concert with The Ex at
music festivals worldwide. The music covers many genres and for Andy his choice depends on in Duke Ellingtons words “there are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind…the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it
sounds”. Inspired by the incredibly wide palate of New York based DJ
Rupture he plays Ethiopian, Algerian, Moroccon, Angolan, Ugandan ,
Jamaican Dancehall. South African Gqom, Dub reggae, UK Rap, Hip Hop, Free jazz, Rebetika, etc.

More recently Andy has been working with Amsterdam based Echobox
Radio and does a live show every four weeks on a Friday. The shows
are called Blueprints For A Blackout.
